At about 10:34am, on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) made an on-site arrest of a suspect for Larceny of a Bicycle in the area of 808 Parker Street in Roxbury. Officers were on patrol in the area when they observed the suspect acting suspiciously looking into car windows. Thinking that the suspect was looking to break into a motor vehicle, officers decided to follow the suspect. While following behind the suspect, officers observed the suspect enter a yard and come out with a bicycle. Seeing this, officers approached the suspect for questioning. When asked if he owned the bike, the suspect stated, “No.” When asked why he took the bike, the suspect stated, “I noticed that the bike had a flat tire so I decided to take it to see if I could fix it.”
Officers arrested Rodrigo Ortega, 38, of Boston and charged him with Larceny of a Bicycle (under $250).
