POLICE CATCH ONE BREAKING INTO A HOME ON MISSION HILL

At about 1:44 pm, on Thursday, September 9, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a breaking & entering in progress at 73 Reading Street. While en route to the call, officers learned that the suspect was described as a hispanic male wearing a white t-shirt and carrying a blue backpack. On arrival, officers observed and located an individual matching the description of the suspect holding a black bicycle in front of an open window at the above-mentioned address (73 Reading Street). As officers approached, the suspect jumped on the bike and took off. An officer responding in a cruiser was able to block the suspect’s hurried departure. With his escape route blocked, the suspect jumped off the bike and attempted to flee on foot. However, in short time, officers were able to catch up to and apprehend the suspect.

Officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed the suspect attempting to gain access through several windows in the back of the residence. Witnesses say they observed the suspect grab a bike from the back of the residence and make his way to the front. Officers observed an open window at the location. Upon entering the location, officers located and recovered a pair of sunglasses belonging to the suspect.

Officers arrested Wilfredo Rodriguez, 34, of Boston and charged him with Breaking & Entering (Daytime).
