At about 1:55am, on Monday, September 6, 2010, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a large fight in the area of Linden & Gardner Streets. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim, a 21 year-old male, as well as several witnesses, who stated that a large group of kids, approximately 10 to 12, attacked the victim and beat him with, possibly, a wrench. According to witnesses, after the attack, the suspects entered three separate vehicles, all bearing Rhode Island license plates, and fled the scene. Officers promptly broadcast a description of all three cars over the police radio.
In short time, all three cars were located and stopped. With all three cars stopped, witnesses were, for identification purposes, brought to all three scenes. Once there, witnesses were able to identify twelve suspects involved in the altercation. All twelve suspects were arrested and charged with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
The victim, suffering non-life threatening injuries, was transported to the Beth Israel Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. A search of the motor vehicles enabled officers to see and seize the wrench used in the altercation.
