Search Warrant Yields Drugs and a Gun

Yesterday around 12:01PM, officers and detectives from the District C-11 (Dorchester) executed a search warrant at 126 Taunton St. in Mattapan pursuant to a drug investigation.

Officers were able to peacefully enter the above location after stopping the target of the investigation and placing him in custody prior to entering the house. Once inside, officers provided Miranda warnings to the target of the investigation and advised him of the existence of the search warrant. The target stated to officers that there was nothing in the house prior to officers beginning to search the house. Once officers started searching the house, the target stated to officers that there might be something downstairs.  The suspect then went on to tell officers that there was a gun and drugs secreted in a safe downstairs and provided officers with the combination to the safe.

Officer then went downstairs and found a safe. Officers opened the safe and found a gun, bullets, about 80 grams of white crack cocaine, a digital scale and numerous personal papers in the name of the suspect.

The suspect, Gary A. Lewis, 31 of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Trafficking Class B Substance, Trafficking Class B Substance within 1,000’ of a School Zone, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Second Subsequent Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm while in the Commission of a Felony.
