At about 6:00pm, on Friday, August 20, 2010, officers from Area E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a larceny at 27 Corinth Street (Fornax Bakery) in Roslindale. On arrival, officers spoke to store employees who stated that a white male (wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts) entered the store and asked if he could use the store phone to call his mother. Not wanting the young man to miss out on an opportunity to speak to his mother, store employees allowed the customer to use their phone.
However, when the employees turned around to retrieve the phone, the suspect reached into the store’s tip jar and stole all of the tips. When employees confronted the suspect with what he had just done, the suspect denied taking anything and then fled the store. Officers broadcast a description of the suspect over the police radio. In short time, officers were able to locate the suspect.
Officers arrested Mike Kachele, 30, of Boston and charged him with Larceny (Under $50.00).
