About 2:55am on Friday, August 20, 2010 officers responded to a radio call for two persons in the water in the area of the Massachusetts Ave. Bridge along the Charles River. Officers responded in the Boston Police Interceptor \”Protector\”, on arrival officers observed two white males in the water on the west side of the Massachusetts Ave. Bridge with Boston Fire life vests on and being assisted by Boston Fire Divers.
One 22 year-old male, was pulled from the water by Officers Daniel Harlow and Joseph Matthews, along with a 21 year-old male pulled from the water immediately following. Both parities were conscious and alert, and appeared to be in a mild state of hypothermia.
Officers transported both parties to the M.I.T. Dock on the Cambridge Side and were met by Boston EMS. Both individuals were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.
Responding agencies included Boston Fire, Boston EMS, Mass State Police, Mass Environmental police, Cambridge Fire, Cambridge Police, and M.I.T. Police.
