GRAFITTI VANDAL ARRESTED IN SOUTHIE
At about 4:34am, on Friday, August 13, 2010, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) were on patrol in the area of East 1st Street and Farragut Road when officers observed an individual walking with a hood covering his face in an area known for recent breaking and enterings. Given the time of the night and the individual’s furtive gestures, officers proceeded to monitor the individual. Not knowing that he was being watched, the suspect proceeded to unveil a can of spray paint. While officers watched, the suspect began spray painting a design of some kind on what appeared to be a storage shed. Upon closer inspection, it appeared that the suspect painted a number ‘5’ on the shed. When the suspect saw the officers approaching, the suspect took off on foot. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the suspect.
Officers arrested a 20 year-old male from Boston and charged him with Damage to Property by Graffiti. A search of the suspect enabled officers to see and seize a can of spray paint and a gold marker.
