Last night around 8:00PM, officers from District D-4 (South End) arrested suspect, John Barboza, 53 of Roxbury and charged him with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Officers assigned to a fix post in the Lenox Street area were stationed in front of 619 Shawmut Ave. when they were informed by several bystanders and informed that someone was just stabbed in the park.
Officers immediately responded to the area of the park that they were directed to and there observed the victim following the suspect who was attempting to pass off an object to another person in the park. Officers were able to detain the suspect and recovered the item that the suspect was trying to pass off which turned out to be a knife inside a plastic. The victim who was suffering from a knife wound to the stomach was transported to Boston Medical Center where his injuries were deemed non-life threatening.
The suspect, post arrest, exclaimed, “I stabbed that (expletive) because he was a (expletive).
