DETAIL OFFICER HELPS IN THE ARREST OF SUSPECT BREAKING INTO CARS
At about 4:00pm, on Monday, August 9, 2010, an officer performing a detail on Area A-1 (Downtown) observed an individual breaking into a car in the area of Broad & Wharf Streets. Specifically, the detail officer observed the suspect smash the car’s window, grab something and flee on foot. As a result of his observations, the detail officer, in addition to giving chase, promptly broadcast a description of the suspect over the police radio. The suspect was described as a white male with a bald head, wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans. Suspect was last seen running towards Atlantic Ave. In short time, repsponding officers located and observed an individual who looked like the suspect. As a result, officers stopped the suspect to further investigate the incident.
While talking to the suspect, officers observed a screwdriver tucked inside the suspect’s waist area. Officers removed and took possession of the screwdriver. Officers also took possession of two power supply cords.
When the owner of the car showed up on the scene, the owner confirmed that the power cords had been stolen from his car. At this point, the suspect stated, “I screwed up. You got me.”
Officers arrested David Bowman, 35, of Lynn and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle.
