RUNNING ONTO THE FIELD AT FENWAY NEVER A GOOD IDEA REGARDLESS OF THE GAME

At about 9:30pm, on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, detail officers assigned to the soccer game at Fenway Park did affect an arrest of an individual who was seen running onto the playing surface during the course of the contest between Celtic Football Club and Sporting Lisbon. As a result of the intrusion, the game was stopped and delayed while security personnel escorted the suspect from the playing surface.

Officers arrested and charged Nicholas Ames, 27, of Arlington with Disturbing a Public Assembly, Disorderly Person and Trespassing after he ran onto the field at Fenway Park.

MAN WITH GUN ARRESTED IN ROXBURY

At about 12:20am, on Thursday, July 22, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for loud music in the area of 19 Leyland Street. As officers were approaching the scene, officers observed an individual clutching at his waistband in such a way as to suggest he was in possession of a firearm. As officers approached, the suspect took off on foot. As a result, officers began pursuing the suspect.  While running behind the suspect, officers observed the suspect motion in such a way as if to suggest he had tossed or discarded an item. Upon catching up to and detaining the suspect, the suspect stated that he ran because he was afraid. Upon searching the area, with help from a Boston Police K-9 Unit, officers located and took possession of a firearm.

When asked to produce a license to carry a firearm, the suspect was unable to. 

Officers arrested Randy Williams, 22, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.
