Around 10:19PM last night, Tuesday, July 6, 2010, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to 4 Sewall St. for an armed robbery.
On scene, officers spoke to the victim who stated to officers that he was walking on Tremont Street near Parker Street when a suspect approached the victim and asked him for money. The victim ignored the suspect and kept walking when the suspect then exclaimed to him, “I have a gat (slang for a gun)! Give me your phone!” The suspect then took the victim’s phone and fled on foot on Parker Street. The victim described the suspect as black Non-Hispanic male wearing a Philadelphia Eagles football jersey.
Numerous units responded to the scene and searched the area for the suspect and within a few minutes located an individual matching the suspect description. As officers approached the suspect, he could be heard stating, “All these cops for me over a phone!?” The suspect was stopped and held pending possible identification by the victim. Once the victim saw the suspect he positively identified him as the person who told him he had a gun and stole his phone. The victim’s phone was then recovered from the suspect’s pants’ pocket and returned to the victim.
The suspect, Al Q. Hall, 36 of Boston was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery. The suspect, while in transit to the district station, made spontaneous statements saying, “He (victim) is doing me a favor, I’ll do six months and still collect my disability and when I get out, I’ll be stacked. He (victim) won’t show up for court, he got his phone back and feels safe now, I’m in jail.”
The suspect will be arraigned at Roxbury District Court today, July 7, 2010.
