BREAKING & ENTERING SUSPECT CAUGHT FLEEING THE SCENE
At about 9:20pm, on Saturday, July 3, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to radio call for a person breaking into a location in the area of Dunford Street. While approaching the location, officers observed the victim chasing the suspect. Officers were able to catch up to and detain the suspect. Upon speaking to the victim, officers learned that the suspect had attempted to kick in her basement window. Victim further states that she was at home when she heard a loud banging noise and when she went to the front door to see what had caused the noise, the suspect tried to push his way into her home. Victim further states that the suspect damaged a glass top table and a grill.
After the victim positively identified the suspect, officers arrested Angel Vazquez, 49, of Boston and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Residence (nighttime).
SNORTING IN PUBLIC LANDS ONE IN JAIL FOR DRUG POSSESSION
At about 7:15pm, on Saturday, July 3, 2010, members of the Area C-6 Neighborhood Drug Unit (South Boston) were on patrol in the area of Dorchester and Burke Streets when they observed an individual drinking a beer and sniffing or snorting what appeared to be an illegal narcotic. As a result of their observations, officers stopped and approached the suspect.
Upon seeing the approaching officers, the suspect stated, “I have a warrant.” A search of the suspect enabled officers to locate and take possession of a small container which was housing an undisclosed amount of what appeared to be crack cocaine.
Officers arrested Mark Corbett, 30, of Boston and charged him with Possession of a Class B Drug, Drinking in Public and the outstanding warrant for Operating without a License.
MAN ON BIKE ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH UNARMED ROBBERY
At about 2:30am, on Sunday, July 4, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol in the area of Dudley & Greenville Streets when they were waved down by a female who appeared to be in distress. When officers stopped their cruiser, the female pointed towards a black male riding a bicycle and stated, “He just robbed me.” According to the victim, she was standing in the area of Dudley & Winslow Streets attempting to hail a cab. In the interim, the victim states that she had pulled some money out of her pocket and was in the process of counting it when the suspect rode by, snatched the money out of her hand and pushed her to ground. Victim says she had approximately $50.00 in her possession.
Officers caught up to and stopped the suspect.
Officers arrested Troy Barnes, 18, of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery, Assault & Battery and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs. A search of the suspect post arrest enabled officers to locate and take possession of several small plastic bags containing a white rock like substance.
