Assault Suspect Disarmed and Arrested

Around 10:34PM, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force (Gang Unit) responded to the parking of 76 Hancock Street for a group of males fighting with one armed with a knife and another believed to have a firearm hidden somewhere in the parking lot.

On arrival, officer s saw a group of seven to ten young males in the parking lot of the Hancock Liquors, most of whom were known to officers from past interactions. As officers approached, the group began to disperse but part of the group remained on scene and continued to argue loudly. Officers exited their cars to mediate the situation and ascertain before doing so that none of these individuals had any weapons that could be used on each other or the officers. Officers, based on the nature of the call and past experience in this area, decided to pat frisk the individuals on scene all the while separating the feuding parties.

Officers attempted to pat frisk one member of the group who became combative verbally and physically refusing to be pat frisked and in his efforts struck an officer in the shoulder.  Officers then attempted to place the suspect under arrest for this assault at which time he violently resisted refusing to show officers his hands. After a lengthy struggle, officers were able to subdue the suspect and place him in handcuffs.  Once in handcuffs, officers recovered a folding knife from the suspect’s person.

Officers then spoke with a victim who reported to officers that the suspect “…had pulled out a knife” on him during an argument. The suspect, Casi DaRosa, 19, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest and Disturbing the Peace.
