Last night around 10:29PM, officers from District E-18 (Hyde Park) arrested suspect, Kimberly Chambers, 19, of Milton and charged her with Assault and Battery, Assault, Shoplifting and Use without Authority.
This arrest was initiated when officers responded to a radio call for an assault and battery in progress at 871 Hyde park Avenue/Kelly’s Liquors for an assault and battery in progress. At the scene, officers spoke to the victim who reported that the suspect and another woman came in to the store to purchase some cigarettes but due to their attitude were given their money back and told that they should go elsewhere. The suspects then grabbed three scratch tickets from behind the counter and attempted to walk out of the store. One of the store clerks followed the suspect in an attempt to stop her from leaving the store with the scratch tickets but the suspect assaulted the victim by punching her and scratching her on the wrist.
Officers then spoke to another victim/ witness who observed the incident. The victim/witness reported that the suspect swung at her in attempt to punch her also when she attempted to stop the assault on the other victim.
Officers were able to stop the car that the suspect was driving based on the descriptions given by witnesses and victims. Once the car was stopped, officers determined that the car had been reported stolen/use without authority out of Milton on 6/17/10 consequently leading to the charge of Use without Authority.
The identity of the second suspect remains under investigation as she was not found in the car.
