B&E Suspect Found Hiding in Back Yard

At approximately 1:19AM today, officers from District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to 29 Duval St. in Brighton for a breaking and entering in progress.

Officers arrived on scene and observed the side of a solid wood entry door damaged. Officers next spoke to the residents of the house who reported that they were inside their house when they observed and heard someone kicking the front door of the house. The victims/witnesses then reported that the suspect fled into the back yard and was currently hiding under a table in the back yard.

Officers responded to the back door and there found the suspect tucked underneath a table. The suspect was removed from underneath the table and once removed was asked what he was doing underneath the table. The suspect told officers that he was waiting for his girlfriend but could not tell officers where he was or where he lived. After some time, the suspect provided officers an address but no one at that address knew the suspect.

The suspect, Steven B. Smith, 25 of Allston was arrested and charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime.
