Assault on Taxi Driver Lands Two Suspects in Jail

This morning around 1:33AM, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to 638 Beacon Street for an Assault and Battery in progress.

On arrival, officers met with the victim, a cab driver, who reported picking up two passengers at Congress and North Streets in Haymarket and agreed to drive them to a destination in Allston via Commonwealth Avenue.  The victim further elaborated by telling officers that while he was driving on Commonwealth Ave. his passengers began to verbally abuse him accusing him of not traveling on Commonwealth Avenue.

The victim, after some time of being verbally abused by the passengers, and noticing their increasing aggressive behavior, decided to pullover in Kenmore Square and terminate the fare. Once stopped, the passengers/suspects pulled him out of the cab and started punching and kicking him until passersby stopped and helped the victim. The suspects then kicked and broke the driver’s side headlight of the taxi along with the driver’s side door. A witness corroborated the victim’s story telling officers that the victim was in a fetal position while the suspects continually kicked him.

The suspects, a 22-year-old male of Boston and Jeffrey Cammarata, 25, of Boston were arrested and charged with Assault and Battery, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon and Willful, Malicious Destruction of Property.
