About 1:10AM, officers from district B-2 (Roxbury) arrested suspect, Myles McCoy, 23 of Boston and charged him Unarmed Robbery, Larceny Over $250.00 and Receiving Stolen Property.
Officers were able to arrest the suspect as a result of a passerby who allowed the victim to use her phone after she was robbed of her phone and other property. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the victim who informed them that she was just robbed by a black male in his twenties who was wearing a light colored t-shirt, black or navy shorts with a stripe down the side. The victim further reported that the suspect took her silver purse, laptop, and dark blue suitcase.
Information relating to this robbery was broadcast to all units on the district and within minutes, officers observed a male matching the suspect description walking on Parker Street toward Tremont Street with a dark blue suitcase. The suspect was stopped for further investigation by officers and as they approached, the suspect stated, “To be honest with you guys, I just found this down the street. I looked inside and saw all types of cool [stuff].” Officers looked inside the suitcase and therein found all the items that the victim had reported stolen from her including the victim’s cell phone.
The victim was brought back to the scene and she immediately identified the stopped suspect by exclaiming, “That’s him with the white shirt, that’s definitely him!” The suspect was placed under transported to the district station.
The victim then elaborated to officers about how the robbery took place. The victim reported that she knew the suspect from the area and was hanging with him in the Madison Park Recreational Area when she asked the suspect to come to her friend’s house and an argument ensued. The suspect then snatched her purse from her from her shoulder and her suitcase from her. The victim’s phone, being in her purse, was left without a phone and thus was only able to call 911 when a passerby let her use their phone.
