DAILY INCIDENTS FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 15, 2010

POLICE ARREST ONE FOR THE UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM 

At about 11:52pm, On Monday, June 14, 2010, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 393 Shawmut Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they heard what sounded like a gunshot in the area of 393 Shawmut Ave and then witnessed a blue motor vehicle flee the area at a high rate of speed.  Officers promptly broadcast a description of the motor vehicle over the police radio.

Approximately an hour later, at about 1:24am, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) observed a motor vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s motor vehicle travelling in the area of Warren and Moreland Streets. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. As officers approached the car, officers observed the operator of the car to be moving and shifting from side to side in the driver\’s seat. Officers also observed the operator to be moving his hands around his waist area. As a result of the operator’s suspicious movements, officers instructed the occupants to exit the car. With the occupants outside the car, officers conducted a frisk of the occupants for weapons. 

As a result of the frisk, officers were able to locate and take possession of a 7 inch knife. A search of the car enabled officers to observe and take possession of a firearm.

Officers arrested Theodore Blackwell, 22, of Boston and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (knife), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and the Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm.

POLICE ARREST ONE FOR STEALING A BICYCLE

At about 3:20pm, on Monday, June 14, 2010, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for two males stealing a bike in the area of 1392 Dorchester Ave (Tedeschis Market). While en route to the call, officers learned that the victim was following the suspects. Officers caught up to and located one of the suspects in the area of Freeport Street. Upon stopping the suspect, officers observed that the suspect was in possession of a bicycle. While the suspect was being detained, the victim showed up to the scene.

The victim told police that two suspects approached him, punched, pushed him to the ground and stole his bike. Officers observed a bruise and redness around the victim\’s face. In addition to the victim, a witness told officers that, while walking in the area of 1442 Dorchester Ave, she observed two black males push the victim and take off on his bicycle. The witness was able to positively identify the suspect police had in custody.

Officers arrested and charged Bryant Simpson, 17, of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery. The victim\’s bicycle was returned to him on scene.
