POLICE ARREST ONE FOR INTERFERING WITH EMTS

At about 2:19am, on Sunday, June 13, 2010, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call to assist EMS in the area of Cambridge and Grove Streets.  On arrival, officers spoke to EMTs who stated that they were attempting to administer aid to a person in need of medical assistance when an unknown individual began disrupting and harassing the EMTs. Officers approached the individual and asked him if everything was okay. At this point, the suspect walked up to the officers and demanded something be done to help the person being treated by the EMTs. When asked if he knew the patient, the suspect stated that he did not. Officers observed and detected that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.  Specifically, officers observed and noted the suspect swaying on his feet, talking with slurred speech and smelling of alcohol. When asked to step away from the scene and discontinue getting in the way, the suspect, instead, chose to yell and scream at the officers. When the suspect refused, after being told several times to vacate the area, officers took the suspect into custody.

Officers arrested Winthrop Roosevelt, 27, of Boston and charged him with Being Disorderly.

POLICE ARREST TWO WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH SHOOTING IN ROXBURY

At about 6:11pm, on Saturday, June 12, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 36 Dearborn Street for a report of shots fired. On arrival, officers located a victim in the area of 118 Eustis Street suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

Officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they heard several shots and observed a blue motor vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. Witnesses were able to provide a partial license plate of the fleeing motor vehicle. In short time, officers were able to locate a motor vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s motor vehicle. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. Upon approaching the car, officers noted that both the operator and passenger appeared to be nervous. At one point, the passenger attempted to exit the car, but was told by officers to remain in the vehicle. 

Officers asked the operator where he was coming from and the operator stated he was just dropping his friend off. Officer again noted the operator to be extremely nervous, breathing heavy and unable to focus on the officer. At this point, officers instructed both occupants to exit the motor vehicle. As the passenger was exiting the car, officers quickly observed a firearm in the passenger’s waist area. As a result, the suspect was quickly restrained by officers. With both suspects in custody, officers took possession of the firearm. When asked to produce a license to carry a firearm, neither occupant could.

Officers arrested  Terrence Blalock, 27, of Boston and Chester Johnson, 24, of Boston and charged both with Armed Assault With Intent to Murder, Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way, Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
