POLICE ARREST ONE IN CONNECTION WITH SHOOTING IN DORCHESTER
At about 7:25pm, on Monday, June 7, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) and members of the Youth Violence Strike Force were on patrol in the area of Normandy and Brunswick Streets when officers learned of shots being fired on Brunswick Street. When officers turned onto Brunswick Street, officers observed a group of people running up the street towards Blue Hill Avenue. Officers noted and observed one individual, wearing an aqua shirt, who appeared to be running ahead and away from the rest of the group. When officers exited their police vehicle, several individuals pointed to the man in the aqua shirt and stated that he was the shooter. Officers gave chase and observed the suspect run into a home at 89 Brunswick Street.
Officers spoke to a female who stated that the suspect had been shooting at her. The victim further stated that she knew the suspect. According to the victim, she and the suspect had recently stopped dating. When she stopped by the above mentioned location to pick up some belongings, the suspect approached her car, showed a firearm and began shooting. Officers observed and recovered ballistic evidence in front of the location.
Officers entered the location in order to conduct a protective sweep. Once inside, officers located the suspect hiding in the basement. Specifically, the suspect was hiding behind a piece of sheetrock. After a brief struggle, officers were able to apprehend the suspect. After the suspect was positively identified by several witnesses, officers took the suspect into custody.
Officers arrested Justin Williams, 30, of Boston and charged him with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Firearm Discharged within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property and Resisting Arrest.
