POLICE ARREST ONE FOR RANDOMLY TACKLING PEOPLE ALONG COMM AVE
At About 1:23am, on Sunday, may 30, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a creating a disturbance by tackling people in the area of 1316 Commonwealth Ave. On arrival, officers observed a large crowd in front of Joshua Tree Sports Bar. While approaching the crowd, officers observed a white male in a grey tank top push through the crowd and begin to run along Commonwealth Ave. After a brief pursuit, officers were able to catch up to and detain the suspect. With the individual being detained, several witnesses approached the officers. According to the witnesses, the suspect had tackled several people randomly and without provocation. One of the victims stated that he was walking down the street when the suspect approached, pushed him to the ground and began punching him. The victim further stated that the suspect broke one of his teeth.
When officers attempted to talk to the suspect, the suspect began to verbally disrespect and disparage the officers. When officers placed the suspect into the prisoner transport wagon, the suspect proceeded to kick, punch and bang on the walls of the vehicle.
Officers noted and observed that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol given his slurred speech, blood shot eyes and odor of alcohol emanating from his person.
Officers arrested Nicholas Emerson, 24, of Randolph and charged him with Disturbing the Peace.
