Today, on Monday, May 3, 2010, at approximately 2:39pm, Boston Police Officers, assigned out of Area A-15 ( Charlestown), responded to the Sovereign Bank ( 437 Rutherford Ave), for a report of a bank robbery.
Officer’s made a quick response and spoke with the teller that was robbed. They immediately obtained a detailed description of the suspect in order to broadcast it to other units searching the area.
The teller informed officers that a white male, mid 20’s, wearing a white baseball cap, a long sleeve grey shirt, blue jeans, aviator glasses and gloves entered the bank and approached her station. She further stated that the suspect had his shirt pulled up covering his mouth and part of his face. The suspect then passed her a note that demanded money.
The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of United States Currency before fleeing the bank on foot onto Main Street.
The bank was then closed in order for investigators to process the scene. The FBI / Boston Bank Robbery Task Force were called to the scene and are conducting a thorough investigation. The demand note was left behind and taken into custody by investigators for analysis.
