At about 3:30pm, on Sunday, April 18, 2010, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to 19 Nightingale Street in Dorchester for a report of a woman and a man involved in a domestic altercation. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who told officers that her boyfriend had physically assaulted her. Officers observed the victim to have injuries to her face and neck. The victim, who is pregnant, was transported to the Boston Medical Center for further evaluation. Suspect left the scene with three minor children in a green SUV. According to the victim, she believed that the suspect was in possession of a firearm.
Shorty after the incident, officers and detectives from Area B-3 (Mattapan) made an observation of the suspect and his vehicle as he attempted to flee the area. Upon seeing the car, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) in an effort to stop the car. Initially, the operator refused to stop, but, after a short pursuit, the operator stopped his car in the area of Hazlewood Court. When officers approached and attempted to take the suspect into custody, a violent struggle ensued. After the struggle, one in which officers discharged their department-issued OC spray (mace), the suspect was taken into custody. A search of the suspect’s car enabled officers to locate and take possession of a firearm.
Officers arrested Jose Jobson, 26, of Chelsea, and charged him with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest and Refusing to Stop for Police.
The minor children riding in the motor vehicle with the suspect were unharmed, but, for evaluation purposes, were transported to BMC.
