Suspect Arrested with Fruits of His Crimes

This morning around 2:58AM, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested suspect, Scott Mothersil, 18, of Mattapan and charged him with Possession of Burglarious Tools and Receiving Stolen Property.

Officers on a fixed post notified other district officers of a black male looking into motor vehicles and trying door handles in the area of Centre and Leslie Streets.  Other officers responded to the area and found an individual matching the suspect description in the area of 352 Centre Street. That individual was stopped and during the stop, officers observed pliers sticking out of the suspect’s rear pocket, an identification card belonging to a female in his hand, and socks. The suspect was asked for his name and he initially stated that his name was Marvin before telling officers that his name was Scott Mothersil.

Due to the activities that suspect had been observed engaging in, the time of day and the number and nature of calls officers had received in the area, officers performed a pat frisk of the suspect. The suspect was found to be in possession of a car stereo faceplate. Officers then questioned suspect about the faceplate after reading him his Miranda Warning/Rights. The suspect then went on to tell officers that he and an associate had been breaking into cars in the Dorchester, Roxbury and Hyde Park areas for the last three months.

The suspect was placed under arrest for Possession of Burglarious Tools and upon searching the suspect, officers found identification cards (i.e. credit cards, driver’s licenses) belonging to at least six different people, an I-Pod shuffle, cell phone and several other personal items not belonging to the suspect. The suspect was then arrested and charged with the above offenses.
