Unlicensed Operation Leads to “Trafficking” Charge

This morning around 10:06AM, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) were on patrol in the area of Harvard and Morton Streets when a random query of a passing motor vehicle revealed that the car’s inspection sticker was invalid.Officers followed the car and conducted a traffic stop a short distance later at 384 Harvard Streets. At the traffic stop, officers asked the operator for his license and registration but he provided officers only with a leaner’s permit and registration. Officers then again inquired of the operator if he had a license and he reported to them that he was told that he could drive a car between 6am and 6pm with his learner’s permit. Officers then checked the operator’s information via the MDT (computer in police cruiser) and it confirmed that the operator was not licensed to operate a car.
The operator was removed from the car and placed under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License. After placing the suspect under arrest, a search was conducted of the suspect and officers recovered two small packages of crack cocaine from the suspect’s socks. The suspect was then charged with Possession of Class B/crack cocaine. An inventory search was conducted of the suspect’s car and during that search, officers recovered a plastic bag with marijuana, two packages of yellow brick sized packages which were subsequently determined to be heroin, and a number of other chemicals and items used in the manufacturing and sale of narcotics. A test was conducted of the substance in the brick package which confirmed it to be heroin. The heroin was then weighted and its weight was determined to be in excess of 200 grams.
The suspect, Marco Thenor-Louis, 24, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle without Being a License, Possession of Class B, Trafficking Class A, and Trafficking Class A within 1,000’ of a School Zone, and issued a citation for Possession of Class D/marijuana.
