Man Refused to go to Work, Destroys Grandparents House & Assaults OfficersOn Friday, September 11, 2009, at approximately 8:08am, Boston Police officers assigned out of Area A-7 (East Boston), responded to 703 Bennington Street for a report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers met with an elderly couple who informed them that their 18 year-old grandson was destroying their house. They went on to state that he was angry because they were making him go to work and he didn’t want to.
Officers were then directed to the grandson’s room. Officers found the door to be locked and he initially refused to open it. After several minutes officers were able to convince him to open the door. Officers explained to the suspect that his behavior was unacceptable and his grandparents are in fear of him when he becomes angry. The suspect immediately became aggressive towards officers and clinched his fists and stated, “I’m not going anywhere.” Officers attempted to calm the suspect down but he refused to comply. Officers then took hold of the suspect and began escorting him out of the building. While doing so, the suspect punched and kicked the officers several times. Officers were able to place the suspect into custody after a brief struggle.
Officers arrested Gaspar Rodriguez, 18, of East Boston on the charges of Assault & Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
Man Flips Car, Leaves Injured Friends Inside before Fleeing. Arrested Shortly Thereafter.
On Wednesday, September 10, 2009, at approximately 10:44pm, Boston Police officers assigned out of Area B-3(Mattapan), responded to the American Legion Highway for a report of an automobile crash.
Officers arrived in the area of the American Legion Highway & Franklin Hill Avenue and observed a black Kia flipped over, resting on its side with extensive damage. Officers located three individuals that were passengers of the vehicle with various, non-life threatening injuries. The occupants were reluctant to speak with officers and supplied limited information regarding the crash before being transported to Boston Medical Center for their injuries.
Officers were then approached by an independent witness who informed them that he heard a loud crash that got his attention. He then looked in the area of the loud noise and observed the vehicle on its side. He then observed the vehicle’s operator exit and remove the registration plates before running down the American Legion Highway towards Blue Hill Avenue. He described the operator as a heavy set black male, wearing a brown hoody and black pants.
Officers immediately began searching the area for the operator. A black male, fitting the description given by the witness, was observed walking on Angell Street. Upon noticing the oncoming police presence, this individual dropped a license plate from his hand to the ground. The witness positively identified this subject as the operator and he was placed into custody.
Officers arrested Troy Hope, 20, of Dorchester on the charges of Leaving the Scene of an Automobile Crash with Personal Injury.
