Benefit for Cops for Kids with Cancer

A Celtic Crossing Presents Pauline Wells in ConcertAt Boston’s Historic Wilbur Theatre
“A 9/11 tribute to benefit Cops for Kids with Cancer”
September 11, 2009 will mark the 8th anniversary of a day in history hopefully none of us will ever forget. The attacks of 9/11 are the Pearl Harbor of our parents and grandparents lives. The events of this horrific day took many lives way before their time, husband’s wives, parents, grandparents, flight crews, and emergency responders including over 300 firefighters and 60 police officers.
This year “A Celtic Crossing” will present a magnificent musical 9/11 concert to be held at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston’s historic theater district. The proceeds going to benefit Cops for Kids with Cancer.
Headlining and hosting this event will be Pauline Wells of Milton. A fulltime Sergeant Detective in the major case unit of the Cambridge Police Department, Pauline began singing in Ireland in 2000 while on a trip with the Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes and Drums. Her distinct tone and melodic quality caught the attention of all; including Mr. Robert Honeysucker of the renowned Longy school of music who selected her as his student in 2004,
Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, Pauline began answering requests to sing the national anthem. In the years that have passed she has performed at dozens of venues in greater Boston including the State House, Faneuil Hall and Fenway Park.
Pauline is best known today as an Irish American folk singer. She often can be found making guest appearances at Mr. Dooley’s authentic Irish tavern with a local Irish show band DEVRI. Pauline takes no money for appearances and for the past three years has hosted a brilliant concert titled “A Celtic Crossing” at the Milton High School auditorium. Each year she has packed the 800 seat theater. All proceeds she gives to the Jimmy Fund through her involvement in the Pan Mass Challenge.
Her vocal success has caught the attention of many. When she was offered the Wilbur she wanted to make it a benefit for a charity she is very fond of and is directed by police officers, hence CFKWC.
Pauline Wells in Concert on 9/11/09 is an event not to be missed. Joining Pauline will be several celebrated musicians including DEVRI and the Boston Police Gaelic Column.
As a special feature of the night, 40 members of the legendary NYPD Emerald Society Pipes and Drums will be travelling to offer a special tribute.
