POLICE ARREST ONE FOR ARMED ROBBERY DOWNTOWNAt about 11:40am, on Monday, August 24, 2009, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of Traveler Street and Harrison Ave. On arrival, officers located and spoke to the victim who stated that he was walking along Kneeland Street when two black males approached him. According to the victim, one of the suspects stated that he had a gun and then took the victim’s wallet. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects over the police radio. In short time, with help from detail officers in the area, officers were able to locate one of the suspects.
After the suspect was positively identified by the victim, officers arrested Darrell Weaver, 50, of Boston and charged him with Armed Robbery.
A search of the suspect enabled officers to locate and take possession of an undisclosed amount of money which was equal to the amount of money the victim says was taken from his person.
MAN WITH KNIFE ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER
At about 4:16pm, on Sunday, August 23, 2009, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person with a knife in the area of 98 Hancock Street. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that her old boyfriend and new boyfriend got into a fight. According to the victim, when the old boyfriend saw her with the new boyfriend, he (the old boyfriend) brandished a knife and began making threats. Specifically, the victim says she heard the suspect say to her new boyfriend, “I will kill you.” After the threats were made, the old boyfriend fled the scene in a motor vehicle. Officers were able to locate the old boyfriend in the area of 108 Matos Street. Upon locating the suspect, officers were able to observe and recover a knife. According to the suspect, the new boyfriend threatened him first.
Officers arrested Ed Matis, 58, of Boston and charged him with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
