POLICE ARREST ONE FOR ARMED ROBBERY ON NEWBURY STREETAt about 12:22am, on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of Mass Ave and Boylston Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was walking down the street when a bald white male approached him from behind, stuck an object in his back (believed to be a knife) and demanded money. According to the victim, the suspect specifically stated, “Give me your money and credit cards.” The victim then stated that the suspect instructed him to walk with him in the direction of an MBTA Station. While waking in the direction of the MBTA station, the victim says the suspect walked behind him, all the while, holding the object to his back. The victim says he walked the suspect to the entrance of the Back Bay MBTA Station. Once there, the victim says he was able to make good his escape.
While officers were responding to the station, a cab driver approached and said, “I noticed a suspicious looking bald man running towards the ‘T’ station.” Upon entering the station, officers observed an individual who fit the description of the suspect. When officers approached the suspect, the suspect stated, “I have the guy’s stuff on me.” When asked if he had the suspect’s wallet, the suspect motioned to a trash barrel inside the station. Upon looking inside the barrel, officers were able to locate and take possession of the victim’s wallet.
Officers arrested Chris Iandolo, 38, of Revere and charged him with Armed Robbery and Kidnapping.
IF YOU’RE GONNA TAKE THE RIDE .. YOU GOTTA PAY THE FARE
At about 1:25am, on Monday, July 20, 2009, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call for a passenger refusing to pay his fare to a cab driver. On arrival, officers spoke to the driver who stated that the passenger/suspect gave him a cancelled credit card. When the cabbie informed the passenger that his card was cancelled, the suspect refused to provide another form of payment. Upon speaking to the suspect, officers learned that the name on the credit card was different from the name of the suspect.
Officers arrested Simao Glison, 21, of Boston and charged him with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Fraud and Taxi Fare Evasion.
