Escaped Prisoner Found Hiding inside a Coffee Table

Yesterday afternoon around 3:30PM, officers received a report that a prisoner at Roxbury District Court had used a ruse to escape from the court. Officers learned that the suspect had answered to the name of another prisoner, went before a judge and as a result was released from the court on personal recognizance.Shortly after escaping from custody, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit started an investigation into the whereabouts of the suspect who was to have appeared before the court on charges ranging from Unlawful Possession of a Firearm to Violation of a Restraining Order. As a result of an exhaustive and thorough investigation members of the Fugitive Unit learned of the whereabouts of the suspect and responded to 12 American Legion Highway this morning around 11:15AM. There, officers found the suspect, Charles Dixon, 24, of Boston hiding inside a coffee table and placed him under arrest after a brief struggle. The suspect was charged with several outstanding warrants for the previous offenses and an additional charge of Escape from a Penal Institution.
