Homicide Suspect Arrested

BOSTON POLICE FUGITIVE UNITAPPREHENDS HOMICIDE SUSPECT IN NEW YORK
Today in Bronx, New York, the Boston Police Fugitive Unit in conjunction with the US Marshals arrested Raphael Lara, 18, of Boston wanted in connection with the homicide of John Paul Torres on May 3, 2009.
On May 3, 2009 at approximately 3:43am, officers responded to a radio call for a stabbing at 349 Dudley Street in Roxbury. Officers learned upon arrival that two individuals had been stabbed. The two victims had self-applied to Boston Medical Center. One victim, a 21 year old Hispanic male, suffered multiple life-threatening stab wounds. The second victim, a 19 year old Hispanic male, suffered a non-life threatening stab wound to the hip. Shortly thereafter, John Paul Torres, 21, of Mattapan was pronounced as a result of the injuries sustained.
Officers located and secured the crime scene in the parking lot of 349 Dudley Street. At that time, detectives responded to BMC where there were reports of two walk-in stab victims. Detectives also conducted numerous witness interviews.
As a result of an exhaustive and thorough investigation, homicide detectives applied for and were recently granted an arrest warrant for Raphael Lara charging him with the murder of Mr. Torres.
Lara is expected to return to Boston in the coming days where he will appear at Roxbury District Court.
