BACKGROUND:
This is the third year of the Boston Police Explorers Program, which serves the youth of Boston who are interested in careers in law enforcement, public safety and criminal justice.
The program requires participants who are high school students, to meet every other Saturday morning from 9 am- 12 pm in the months of November- May. They take part in activities such as touring the DNA laboratory, visiting the Police Academy, Family Justice Center, K-9 and Mounted Units, as well as sitting in on a trial at West Roxbury Court. In addition, they hear lectures from police officers, attorneys, judges etc., all who work in the public safety field. There were 24 youth who successfully completed the program.
