POLICE ARREST TWO FOR UNLAWFULLY CARRYING FIREARMS IN ROXBURYAt about 04:12am, on Thursday, April 21, 2009, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a black male brandishing a firearm in the area of 54 Bragdon Street. On arrival, officers observed several individuals, one of whom matched the description of the suspect. As officers approached the suspects, officers observed two individuals walk behind a car and bend over in such a way as to suggest they had dropped something. When officers approached suspect #1, suspect #1 attempted to flee on foot. After a short pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the suspect. With the suspect stopped, officers conducted a frisk of the suspect #1 for weapons. During the course of the frisk, officers were able to locate and take possession of a firearm. Officers arrested suspect #1, Gary Platt, 24, of Boston and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.
When officers looked behind the car, officers were able to locate and take possession of a 2nd firearm. When officers asked suspect #2 if he had in his possession a license to carry, suspect #2 stated he did not.
Suspect #2, Charles Jackson, 28, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.
