MAYOR MENINO AND COMMISSIONER DAVIS TO ANNOUNCEINCREASED VISIBILITY AND ENFORCEMENT INITIATIVE
WHO: Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Police Commissioner Edward Davis, Members of the Boston Police Command Staff, officers from the Bowdoin Safe Street Team, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force, Special Operations, Uniform Patrol and various other units.
WHAT: Mayor Menino and Commissioner Davis will announce details on the Boston Police Department’s response to a recent increase in shooting activity. The Boston Police Department will immediately increase visibility and patrols in hot spot areas. Officers will execute a proactive warrant sweep specifically targeting individuals involved in gang-related and violent activity. Officers will also be conducting targeted enforcement of impact players in areas experiencing firearm violence.
The event set up will include an outdoor roll call and a message delivered to the patrol force from Police Commissioner Davis about his expectation to reduce firearm activity. The Firearms Analysis Unit will set up a display of firearms recently removed from city streets.

NOTE: *** The Bowdoin Safe Street Team will also be made available to discuss last night’s arrest of the 16 year-old juvenile responsible for injuring two victims, which include a 3 year-old boy.
