Officers Apprehend Robbery Suspect and Locate Stolen PropertyOn Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at approximately 9:47pm, Officers assigned to Area B-2 (Roxbury), responded to 55 Monadnock Street for a report of a robbery in progress.
Officers arrived on-scene and learned that the male victim was in the area of 444 Columbia Road when he was approached by a Hispanic male. The Hispanic suspect stated to the victim, “Give me your bag”. The suspect then took hold of the bag and fled the area in an unknown direction. The victim was able to supply officers with a detailed description of the suspect. He also stated his back pack contained several personal items, including: a pair of Air force One sneakers, an IPod and a Silver G-1 cellular phone.
Officers broadcast a description of the suspect and set up a perimeter of the area. Shortly thereafter, officers located an individual walking on Columbia Road fitting the description given by the victim. It was further noted that the suspect was carrying a back pack that was consistent with that of the victims.
Officers approached the suspect and confronted him about the incident that just took place. The suspect admitted to stealing the back pack he was in possession of. All of the stolen items were recovered excluding the cellular phone. The suspect stated he gave it to one of his friends.
Officers arrested Hector Alvarez, 17, of Boston on the charges of Unarmed Robbery.
Officers Arrest Three Individuals For Robbery and Assault & Battery
On Tuesday, May 12, at approximately 12:21am, Officers assigned to Area D-14 (Allston / Brighton), responded to the area of Coolidge Road @ North Harvard Street for a report of a robbery in progress.
Officers arrived on-scene and located the two reporting victims that explained they were walking on Western Avenue when they were approached by a group of males. One of the male suspects stated, “why do you have a Yankee’s hat”? The male victim was speaking on his cellular phone at the time and did not reply. The suspect then stated, “I need a cell phone”. The suspect then grabbed the phone and punched the victim in the face. The victim fell to the ground where he was kicked repeatedly. The victim’s girlfriend assisted him by attempting to remove the suspect. While doing so, she noticed that she broke the suspects gold chain from his neck. The female victim went on to state that she was attacked by the other members of the group for her hair was pulled and she was thrown to the ground. While on the ground, she was punched, kicked and spit on. The group then fled.
While en-route, one officer observed a Grey Toyota traveling the wrong way on Coolidge Street with a group inside. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and noticed the occupants fit the description of the wanted suspects. Three out of the five occupants were positively identified as the perpetrators of the robbery. Officers located the stolen cellular phone as well as the broken gold necklace.
Officers arrested Gammada Musa, 19, of Boston, Moses Yiga, 19, of Waltham and Lisa Lewis, 17, of Waltham on the charges of Unarmed Robbery, Assault & Battery and Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (shod foot).
