Suspect Waves Fake Gun In Air…Clears Out City ParkOn Monday, May 11, 2009, at approximately 8:04pm, an officer assigned to Area E-13 (J.P.), was conducting traffic at the intersection of Centre Street and Chestnut Avenue when he was approached by an individual who pointed out a black male and stated he observed the black male in Mozart Park waving a gun in the air. The witness went on to state that several people fled the park due to his actions.
The officer informed dispatch of the situation and confronted the suspect as he walked on Centre Street. The officer conducted a pat frisk of the suspect and felt, what he recognized to be, a hand gun in the suspect’s front right pants pocket. The suspect was immediately handcuffed. The officer then retrieved a realistic looking toy gun with the orange tip broken off.
Officers arrested Lee Granville, 19, of Boston on the charges of Disturbing the Peace. During the booking process, Mr. Granville was also found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Man Arrested For Arson In Jamaica Plain
On Monday, May 11, 2009, at approximately 8:59pm, Officers assigned to Area E-13 (J.P.), responded to Woodlawn Street for a report of a drunk male throwing glass bottles.
Officers arrived on-scene and observed a dumpster on fire behind 14 Hyde Park Avenue. Officers then located the caller who informed them that a male subject was breaking glass bottles on the sidewalk and porch of her home. A description of the suspect was given to the officers and broadcast over the radio. The caller went on to state that the male subject was last seen walking towards the Forest Hills Train Station. Officers later learned that the suspect also lit the contents of a recycling bin on fire that was directly next to the Woodlawn Street residence.
BPD officers then traveled to the Forest Hills Train Station in order to locate the suspect. Upon their arrival, they discovered the suspect detained by the Transit Police for spitting at on of their employees. A positive identification of the suspect was made and he was placed into custody.
Officers arrested Robert Coveney, 48, of North Quincy, on the charges of Arson and Destruction of Personal Property.
Alert Neighbor + Quick BPD Response = Two Arrested For B&E
On Monday, May 11, 2009, at approximately 3:15pm, Officers assigned to Area E-5 (West Roxbury / Roslindale), responded to the area of 60 Glendower Road for a report of a breaking and entering in progress. The caller, a nearby neighbor, observed two black males attempting to gain entry into 60 Glendower Road by prying one of the rear windows. The suspects were unsuccessful doing so and walked through the backyard to 62 Glendower Road. The suspects were then observed attempting to gain entry into that property. The caller gave a detailed description of the suspects and continued to monitor their whereabouts. Officers were led directly to the suspects and encountered them in the rear yard of 62 Glendower Road. The suspects were confronted and two sets of rubber gloves were observed at their feet. One of the suspects stated, “Their so we don’t leave our prints”. Officers noticed the rear door of #62 to be open as well as one of the screen windows to be removed and the window to be opened.
Based on the assistance of the alert neighbor, coupled with the quick response of the officers, both suspects were placed into custody.
Officers arrested two black male juveniles (14 and 15), both of Roslindale on the charges of Breaking & Entering a Dwelling House by Force (daytime).
Officers Arrest Suspect For Trafficking Heroin In Excess of 14 Grams
On Monday, May 11, 2009, at approximately 11:24am, Officers assigned to Area D-4 (Back Bay / South End), were instructed to investigate an unattended motor vehicle parked in the area of West Concord @ Tremont Street. The vehicle was described as a green Oldsmobile with a Massachusetts registration. The owner of the vehicle is known to the BPD and was believed to possibly be in possession of a firearm as well as having a suspended driver’s license.
Officers arrived on-scene and located the suspect vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the suspect entered the vehicle and proceeded out of the area. Officers stopped the suspect on Tremont Street and confirmed his identity and his license status. The RMV showed his right to operate a motor vehicle had been suspended. The operator was asked to step from the vehicle and placed into custody on the M/V charges. A search of the suspect then produced Sixty-Seven (67) bags, of what’s believed to be heroin, from his front pants pocket.
Officers arrested Luis Candelario, 37, of Boston on the charges of Trafficking a Class A Substance (heroin), Trafficking a Class A Substance (heroin) Within 1000 feet of a School Zone (The Hurley School) and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
