At about 9:38pm, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 367 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. On arrival, officers located and observed one individual suffering from a gunshot wound. That individual was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. While still on scene, officers learned that a 2nd victim, also suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound, had self applied to Brigham & Women’s Hospital.Officers spoke to witnesses who stated that a white van was seen leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the motor vehicle over the police radio. In short time, officers were able to locate and stop the motor vehicle. After securing a search warrant, officers observed and seized a loaded firearm, ammunition and an undisclosed amount of a Class B Drug.
As a result of the above findings, detectives from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) sought and secured arrest warrants on the following three suspects: Edwin Toledo, 26, of Boston, Juan Guzman, 30, of Boston and Nelson Baez, 28, of Boston.
On Tuesday, May 5, 2009, members of Boston Police Fugitive Unit arrested the above named suspects and charged all three with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way, Possession of a Firearm with Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drug.
