DRIVING THE WRONG WAY ON A ONE WAY LANDS ONE IN CUSTODY FOR O-U-IAt about 1:51am, on Sunday, April 26, 2009, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a motor vehicle accident in the area of Glynn Way and Mass Ave. On arrival, officers observed a motor vehicle facing the wrong way on a section of the roadway marked ‘One Way’. Officers further observed that the ‘One Way’ sign had been knocked to the ground as a result of the collision. Officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed the motor vehicle attempt go the wrong way on the one way ramp. When officers located the operator of the motor vehicle, he was being treated by EMS. While talking to the operator, officers observed that the operator appeared to be intoxicated given his slurred speech, red or glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming off his breath and person. When asked if he’d been drinking, the operator stated, “I had 5 or 6 beers.” When asked to submit to a Field Sobriety Test, the operator refused.
Officers arrested Jose Rosario, 34, of Lynn and charged him with Operating Under the Influence (Alcohol).
BIKE PATROL FASTER THAN YOU THINK
At about 12:50am, on Saturday, April 25, 2009, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown), while assigned to bike patrol, observed a motor vehicle screech its tires and make an illegal lane change in the area of Charles Street. As a result, officers instructed the operator to pull over. However, instead of stopping, the operator accelerated and sped off in the direction of Boylston Street. While attempting to keep up with the car, officers observed the suspect fail to stop for a red light. Officers were able to reacquire the suspect in the area of Tremont Street. When instructed to stop, this time, the operator complied. Once stopped, officers instructed the operator to exit the vehicle.
Once outside the car, officers arrested Arya Zahedi, 27, of Boston and charged him with Failing to Stop for a Police Officer.
