GOING IN PUBLIC NEVER A GOOD IDEAAt about 5:41pm, on Monday, April 20, 2009, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol in the area of 1200 Washington Street when they observed a black male urinating on the sidewalk. Officers further observed several pedestrians (including some young children) in the immediate area. Many of those individuals witnessed the individual urinating in public. As a result, officers arrested Kelvin Clark, 51, of Boston and charged him with Indecent Exposure. While officers were in the process of arresting the suspect, several individuals approached the officers and thanked them for handling the situation.
BROKEN WINDSHIELD LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 9:48pm, on Monday, April 20, 2009, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for property damage in the area of 200 W. 9th Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated her friend broke the windshield on her motor vehicle. According to the victim, she and her friend had had an argument. After the argument, the victim says she observed the suspect break her windshield with a baseball bat. Officers observed that the windshield was, in fact, smashed. A search of the area enabled officers to locate the suspect. Officers arrested Thomas Stapleton, 42, of Boston and charged him with the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property.
GOOD SAMARITAN HELPS FOIL UNARMED ROBBERY
At about 6:46pm, on Monday, April 20, 2009, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) and members of the Bicycle Unit responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress in the area of 160 Sydney Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated he was walking down the street when three black males approached him from behind, knocked him down and attempted to steal his backpack. According to the victim, the suspects fled the area on foot in the direction of the JFK MBTA Station. The victim further stated the suspects took off after a Good Samaritan driving a white van stopped his car and yelled at the suspects. The Good Samaritan stated that he witnessed the suspects throw the victim to the ground.
A description of the three suspects was promptly broadcast over the police radio. In short time, members of the Bicycle Unit observed and located three individuals fitting the description of the suspects. While the suspects were being detained, the victim was brought to the scene. Once on scene, after seeing the suspects, the victim stated, “I’m positive. It’s them.”
Officers arrested two 15 year-old males and one 16 year-old male and charged all three with Attempted Robbery (Unarmed).
