Armed Robber of Charleston Barber Shop ArrestedOn Friday, April 3, 2009, at approximately 5:15pm, Officers assigned to Area A-15 (Charleston), were flagged down on Bunker Hill Street by an individual who stated he was just robbed at gunpoint. The victim further stated that he was cutting hair within his barbershop on 180 Bunker Hill Street when several males entered the shop and produced a firearm and demanded money. The suspects robbed three barbers of their money and cellular phones before fleeing. One of the suspects pressed, what was believed to be, a chrome .45-caliber handgun to one of the victim’s chest and stated, “Are you crazy”. A witness observed a green mini-van flee the area at a high rate of speed right after the incident.
Area A-1 (Charleston) detectives investigated the incident and were able to obtain a positive identification of one of the robbers through a photo array. Area A-1 & A-15 officers were advised of this individual’s identity and were actively seeking him.
On today’s date, Monday, April 6, 2009, at approximately 2:00pm, BPD officers observed an individual, who they recognized to be the suspect in the robbery, in the area of 113 Bunker Hill Street in Charleston. Officers confirmed the suspects’ identity and placed him into custody.
Officers arrested a Black Hispanic Male, 16, of Charleston on the charges of Juvenile Delinquency, to wit: Armed Robbery by Means of a Firearm.
