DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SATURDAY, MARCH 21, 2009

IF YOU’RE GONNA DRINK … DOING IT IN UNDER AGE AND IN PUBLIC IS NEVER A GOOD IDEAAt about 12:59am, on Saturday, March 21, 2009, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol when they observed an individual drinking from a blue plastic cup. Knowing that the cups are often used or utilized by young people to consume alcohol in public, the officers instructed the individual to put the cup down. However, instead of listening to the officers, the individual disregarded their instructions and continued drinking. Upon looking inside the cup, officers detected, smelled and observed what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage. When officers asked the individual to produce identification, the suspect stated, \”I’m not 21.”
Officers arrested Zak Smyth, 18, of Boston and charged him with Unlawful Possession of Alcohol and Drinking in Public.
POLICE ARREST THREE WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH AN ARMED ROBBERY IN EASTIE
At about 9:15pm, on Friday, March 20, 2009, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) took a report from a victim who walked into the station. According to the victim, he was waiting for the bus, when his ex-girlfriend pulled up and offered him a ride. Victim says when he entered the car; he observed two while males sitting in the backseat. After driving for a short period of time, the victim told police that one of the males in the backseat pulled out a box cutter, demanded money and tried to slash him. According to the victim, while one suspect was trying to slash him, the other suspect grabbed him and stole his wallet. Officers noted slash marks to the victim’s clothing.
After his wallet was stolen, the victim says the suspects pushed him out of the car. After being pushed out of the car, the victim says he was able write down the plate number of the motor vehicle. Officers broadcast a description of the car over the police radio. In short time, police officers in Lynn located and stopped the suspect’s motor vehicle. Upon stopping the car, officers noted that the three occupants matched the description of the suspects wanted in connection with the earlier robbery. A search of the car enabled officers to recover two box cutters, a black wallet and an undisclosed amount of money that matched the amount of money stolen from the victim.
Officers arrested Michael Mellen, 19, of Lynn, David Griffin, 24, of Lynn and Tiffany Morong, 20, of Lynn and charged all three with Armed Robbery and Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
POLICE ARREST THREE FOR AN UNARMED ROBBERY IN SOUTHIE
At about 2:00am, on Saturday, March 21, 2009, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress in the area of West 4th and F Streets. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated he was walking down the street when three individuals approached from behind and asked for cigarettes. When the victim stated that he didn’t smoke, the suspects stated, “Then give me all your money.” At this point, the victim says the suspects began to punch and kick him before fleeing the area on foot. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects over Channel 6 of the police radio. In short time, responding officers located three individuals matching the description of the suspects. While the suspects were being detained, the victim was brought to the scene. Once on scene, the victim positively identified the suspects.
Officers arrested Ryan Millerick, 18, of Boston, Patrick Ryan, 17, of Boston and a 16 year-old male and charged all three with Unarmed Robbery and Assault & Battery.
