Two Suspects Arrested & Charged With Multiple Armed RobberiesOn Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at approximately 9:52pm, Officers assigned to Area B-2 (Roxbury), responded to the intersection of Parker & Hillside for a report of an armed robbery.
Officers arrived on-scene and located the victim who informed them that he was walking on Parker Street when two unknown Males approached him. One of the individuals stated, “Hey you…stop”. The victim was then surrounded and one of the suspects displayed a black handgun and stated, “Give us your stuff”. The other suspect proceeded to go through the victim’s pockets and removed his wallet, money and cellular phone. They also demanded that the victim remove his watch and hand it over to them.
The suspects then fled on foot towards the area of Tremont Street. The victim was able to give the officers a detailed description of the suspects and a search of the area was conducted to no avail.
Later that evening, at approximately 10:26pm, Area B-2 (Roxbury) officers learned that two suspects, fitting the above-mentioned description, were arrested in Area D-4 (South End) for an unrelated robbery. Believing the suspects may be the same individuals; the above-mentioned victim was transported to D-4 for the purpose of making an identification. The victim was able to identify the suspects as well as identifying his watch that was in their possession. The suspects later admitted to the robbery while being questioned by detectives.
Officers arrested Christopher Rivera, 20, of Stoughton & Anthony Ruiz, 19, of Boston on the charges of Armed Robbery. Both parties will be facing additional Armed Robbery charges for at least three other incidents they were responsible for prior to being apprehended by D-4 officers.
D-4 officers were able to locate the suspects as they were attempting to flee another robbery scene in the area of the Back Bay Train Station. Numerous citizens assisted officers by pointing in the direction of travel of the suspects. Once in custody, officers learned that they approached a male in the area of Durham Street and displayed a black firearm and stated, “Give me your money”. The suspects then took the victim’s money and cellular phone before fleeing on foot towards the train station. A search of the suspects produced an amount of currency, a Black air-pistol handgun, a T-mobile phone, a Motorola Q-phone, a Blackberry Pearl phone, a Silver Ipod and a Silver Fossil watch.
