Today around 12:17PM, detectives and officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) arrested a 15-year-old suspect from Hyde Park, and charged him with Assault with Intent to Murder and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. This arrest was the result of an exhaustive investigation that started yesterday (Monday, March 2, 2009) morning around 12:19AM when officers from District E-5 responded to 14 Haydn St. in Roslindale for a report of shots fired. On arrival at the scene, officers located an 18-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital where he was deemed to be in critical condition by medical personnel.
After the victim was transported to the hospital, officers and detectives located several witnesses who either heard or observed some of the activity that preceded the shooting. As a result of the information gathered from both the victim and witnesses and good investigative work, officers this afternoon placed the suspect, a 15-year-old male from Hyde Park under arrest and charged him with the above noted offenses.
