Yesterday morning around 11:08AM, officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to the intersection of Centre and Grove Streets in West Roxbury for a motor vehicle with injuries. On arrival, officers observed an accident involving two vehicles, one of which was a City of Boston vehicle (snow plow), the other a privately owned car. The privately owned vehicle was occupied by two passengers both of whom had to be extracted from the vehicle. One of the victims identified as 65-year-old Varin Vacharakool of Dedham was pronounced at the scene. The second victim, 25-year-old Melody Vacharakool of Hyde Park was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced.
The facts and circumstances of this accident are currently under investigation by the Boston Police Accident Reconstruction Team and Boston Police detectives. However, preliminary investigation suggests that the accident was a result of the road and weather conditions at the time of the accident. The investigation is ongoing at this time but it appears that the operator of the snowplow pulled over and stopped in an attempt to avoid the collision.
