This morning around 11:08AM, officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to the intersection of Center and Grove Streets in West Roxbury for a motor vehicle with injuries.On arrival, officers observed an accident involving two vehicles, one of which was a City of Boston vehicle (snow plow), the other a privately owned car. The privately owned vehicle was occupied by two passengers both of whom had to be extracted from the vehicle. One of the two occupants of the car, the operator, a 65-year-old woman was pronounced at the scene of the accident while the other was immediately rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with critical injuries. The second victim, a 25-year-old passenger, after arriving at the hospital later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced.
The facts and circumstances of this accident are currently under investigation by the Boston Police Accident Reconstruction Team and Boston Police detectives. Preliminary information suggests that the accident was a result of the road and weather conditions at the time. It appears that the Operator of the snow plow pulled over and stopped in an attempt to avoid the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
