Suspect Discards Firearm While Being Pursued By BPD OfficerOn Thursday, February 26, 2009, at approximately 3:339pm, an officer assigned to Area B-2 (Roxbury), was traveling in the area of Washington / Circuit St’s when he observed a large group of teenagers congregating in a parking lot on Crispus Attucks Street. The officer was aware that there has been a recent problem in this general area regarding street robberies being conducted by young teenagers.
The officer circled the block and approached the group. Upon noticing the oncoming police officer, one of the youths broke from the group and began walking away. This individual appeared to be nervous for he walked at a fast pace and continued to look back at the officer. The officer got along side the suspect and called him over. The suspect immediately began running from the officer in the direction of Washington Street. The officer followed the suspect onto Thornton Street where he observed the suspect drop, what appeared to be a firearm, to the ground. The suspect stopped running and reclaimed the gun before continuing on. The officer broadcast a description and the activities of the suspect and additional BPD officers responded to the area. Officers continued to follow the suspect as he entered the rear of 81 Thornton Street and attempted to jump the fence. The suspect had difficulty doing so and he was observed throwing the firearm over the fence into the back yard of 75 Thornton Street. Officers apprehended the suspect and located a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun.
Officers arrested Hasan Davis, 17, of Boston on the charges of Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Illegal Possession of Ammunition.
BPD Executes Search Warrant That Yields Two Firearms
On Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at approximately 7:21pm, officers assigned to Area B-2 (Roxbury), responded to Nazing Street for a report of a man with a gun.
Upon officers’ arrival, they met with an individual who stated a Black Male, known only as “Larry”, assaulted her as she walked on Wayne Street. The victim went on to state that “Larry” removed a Black handgun from his waistband and demanded money. “Larry” waived the firearm in the air and gestured to another male to come over. The second unknown Male came over and punched the victim in the back of the head. Both suspects then entered a Black sedan and fled the area. The victim was able to follow the suspects as they proceeded to Nazing Street. Both suspects exited the car and ran to the rear of 20 Nazing Street.
Officers set up a perimeter around 20 Nazing Street and observed a Black Male, fitting the description given, look out the second floor window. The suspect immediately removed himself from view when he observed the police presence. Officers then entered the common area of the building and observed a Black Male running down the stairs. He was detained and later identified by the victim as the perpetrator of the assault. The suspect’s apartment was then secured pending a search warrant. Officers arrested Larry Allen, 28, of Boston on the charges of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (firearm).
On Thursday, February 26, 2009, at approximately 12:30am, Area B-2 (Roxbury) detectives executed a search warrant on Mr. Allen’s residence, 20 Nazing Street. As a result of the search, two firearms were seized (.357 Magnum & .380 Jiminez Arms semi-automatic). A variety of ammunition and in excess of 90 grams of cocaine was also located. Mr. Allen will additionally face the charges of Illegal Possession of Ammunition, Two Counts of Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Trafficking Over 28 Grams of a Class B Substance (cocaine).
