FUNNY MONEY LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODYOver the course of the past several months, the Boston Police Department, in conjunction with the United States Secret Service, conducted an investigation with regard to an on-going money counterfeiting operation. During the course of the investigation, officers seized numerous fraudulent or fake twenty-dollar bills in and around the Boston area.
Based on information and evidence gathered, investigators were granted a search warrant for the target of the investigation.
On Tuesday, February 3, 2009, officers observed the suspect/target of the investigation walking in the area of Oakley Street. Investigators stopped the suspect and executed the search warrant. As a result of the search, officers seized an undisclosed number of counterfeit twenty-dollar bills. A search of the suspect’s residence enabled officers to locate and take possession of money-making equipment that included a laptop computer, a scanner and a template for counterfeit bills.
Officers arrested Charles Barbour, 38, of Boston and charged him with Counterfeiting.
POLICE ARREST SUSPICIOUS DOOR KNOCKER IN DORCHESTER
On Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at approximately 1:27am, Officers assigned to Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to 5 Ridgewood Street for a report of a suspicious man knocking on doors.
When officers arrived, they heard a repeated, loud smashing noise coming from the second floor. Officers ascended the staircase to the second floor in order to investigate further. They immediately observed a male attempting to break through an apartment door by kicking it in. The suspect was half way through the door when officers apprehended him.
Officers arrested Anderson Brown, 46, of Boston on the charges of Breaking & Entering (night time) and Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property (Over $250.00).
LOCKER ROOM THIEVES APPREHENDED AT DOWNTOWN GYM
On Monday, February 2, 2009, at approximately 5:54pm, officers assigned to Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to the Boston Sports Club (695 Atlantic Avenue) for a report of two suspicious males in the locker room. Officers arrived on-scene and located two subjects within the health club without proper membership. Further investigation showed the two suspects to be in possession of a large screwdriver and knife.
Officers arrested Joseph Rodenmacher, 39, of Cambridge and Christopher Frangos, 48, of Cambridge on the charges of Trespassing and Possession of Bulgarious Tools.
DETAIL OFFICER HELPS LOCATE MAN WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH AN ASSAULT AND BATTERY
On Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at approximately 9:00am, officers assigned to Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the area of Dorchester Ave & Gibson Street for a report of a male choking a female. Officers spoke with a witness of the altercation who provided a description of the male suspect. The description of the male was then broadcast over the police radio.
In short time, officers working a detail in the area of Field’s Corner located a male fitting the description. The witness was able to positively identify the suspect as the same individual who was observed choking a female on Dorchester Avenue. The suspect continued to give false names to officers and refused to give his true identity.
A background search of the suspect showed the suspect to have an outstanding warrant. Officers arrested Manuel Gonzalez, 22, of Boston and charged on the warrant and Providing a False Name to Police Officers.
