Three Guns Taken Off Streets of BostonBoston Police recovered three guns from three separate incidents:
· On 1/26/09, 9:45pm, during a traffic stop at 725 Tremont Street (District D4) officers recovered a .38 caliber handgun from a motor vehicle and arrested the driver, Giorgio Lopez, 21, of Cambridge. He will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
· At 11:05am on 1/26/09, while questioning two male teenagers at 704 Columbia Road (District B2) as to why they weren’t in school, one suspect replied, I’m 18 and I don’t have to talk to you mother “expletive” and then attempted to push a police officer who was standing in front of him. The officers noticed that the suspect kept his hand in his right pocket and when ordered to remove his hand from his pocket, the suspect attempted to flee, at which point he was arrested after an altercation with officers. A .22 caliber handgun was recovered from Quandre McGhee, 18, of Dorchester. He will be charged with Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
· On 1/26/09 at 6:35pm, while conducting an investigation on B Street & West 3rd (District C6), officers arrested Derek Mattarazzo, 21, of Charlestown after a traffic stop revealed he was in possession of a 9 mm handgun. He will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
