Arrest Warrant Leads to Recovery of Several High Powered GunsThis afternoon around 12:05PM, officers from District D-14 (Allston and Brighton) responded to 3 Islington St. in Brighton to effect an arrest warrant on an individual with several outstanding warrants.
On arrival, officers gained entry to the house and were directed to the third floor of the house where the suspect with the warrants lives. On the third floor, officers announced their office and were met by a male who they soon determined was the subject of the outstanding warrants. The suspect was arrested, pat frisked and read his Miranda rights. While the suspect was being placed under arrested and read his rights, officers observed in “plain view” on the walls a machine gun hanging on the walls. Officers then asked the suspect if the gun was real, and he stated that it was in fact a real machine gun. Officers then asked the suspect if there were any other guns in the house, and he directed officers to a bedroom where they found another handgun with a large capacity magazine.
The two firearms were made safe and seized by officers. After the two firearms were made safe, officers during subsequent sweep of the apartment located a metal throwing star, and a butterfly knife, both of which are banned dangerous weapons in Massachusetts. The suspect, Christopher Swanson, 34, of Boston was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
