Gun in a Bag Puts Girl in the CanLast night around 10:20PM, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force (Gang Unit) were on patrol in the Upham’s Corner section of Dorchester when they received a call about an individual in possession of a gun. Officers were told that there was a black female wearing a brown jacket carrying a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside. Officers were additionally told that the suspect was walking on Hancock St. near Columbia Road.
Officers proceeded to Hancock St. and there observed black female wearing a brown coat carrying a Louis Vuitton bag. Officers approached the suspect and immediately made note that she appeared to be too young to possess a gun legally. Officers neared the suspect, identified themselves and asked the suspect if they could talk to her at which point the suspect immediately took off running. Officers pursued the suspect and caught her after a brief foot pursuit. The bag was taken from the suspect and inside officer located a loaded gun.
The suspect, Jenice Byron, 20, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
Time-Out for Alcohol Fueled Disorderly Students
Around 10:20PM last night, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded 137 St. Alphonsus St. for two males with an object resembling a machine gun and sounds of gunshots.
On arrival, officers established a perimeter based on the nature of the call while other officers went up the stairs to the third floor. On the third floor officers heard multiple loud voices coming from within the apartment, and entered the apartment. Inside the apartment officers found nine people along with multiple containers of alcohol including cases of beer and several gallons of hard liquor.
Officers spoke to the tenants of the apartment, and as a result recovered four different replica pellet firearms. Officers then further investigated and determined that the tenants of the apartment were all under 21 years of age and as such not authorized to possess alcohol. In addition, all the tenants had strong odors of alcohol and some admitted to consuming alcohol. Consequently, officers arrested the four tenants: Timothy Rachielles, 20, Matthew Usenia, 20, James Jarzyniecki, 19 and Timothy J. Barrett, 19, all of Roxbury who were charged with Keepers of a Disorderly House, Procuring Alcohol for a Minor and being Minors in Possession of Alcohol.
It should be noted that there were several other guests of the house who also were under 21 years of age.
Brotherly Love Puts One Behind Bars
On Sunday, January 25, 2009, at approximately 01:25am, an officer was working a detail at Jose McIntyre’s Nightclub (Area A-1, downtown) when his attention was drawn to the first floor for a large fight involving approximately twenty patrons.
The detail officer and bar staff were able to gain control of the situation and escorted the parties out of the building. While outside, the detail officer observed two individuals involved in a verbal altercation. The officer intervened and separated the two. At this time, a third party ran towards the officer and stated, “That’s my brother” and punched the officer in the face. A violent struggle ensued between the detail officer, back-up officers and the suspect. The suspect was eventually placed into custody. The detail officer suffered a bloody lip from the incident.
Officers arrested, Edward Guerard of Boston on the charges of Assault & Battery on a Police Officer with Injuries, Resisting Arrest & Disorderly Conduct.

On Sunday, January 25, 2009, at approximately 02:30am, an officer from Area B-3 (Mattapan) was in the area of Talbot Avenue assisting a motorist that was involved in a motor vehicle accident. While doing so, the officer heard several motor vehicle engines revving. The officer then observed the vehicles peel off, smoking their tires, heading in the officers direction at a high rate of speed. The officer noted that the street had a high volume of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, thus creating a dangerous situation. The officer was able to stop all three suspects prior to anyone being injured.
Officers arrested, Manuel Alex Paulino, 21, of Boston, Oswaldy Vargas, 21, of Boston and Matthew Manule Carrasquillo, 20, of Boston. All three defendants were charged with Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Driving to Endanger, Disorderly Conduct & Speeding.
